IF YOU’RE LIKE MILLIONS OF OTHERS you’re scrambling to adjust to a whole new world. Possibly, you’re feeling a bit paralyzed, or you’ve become busier than ever, filling each waking moment with mental activity and work. Consider this—we’re in a kind of prolonged “Amygdala Hijack“ in which fight, flight, and freeze has become the norm. Do you bounce between anxiety and optimism, loneliness and well-being, chaos and clarity?
If so, you’re NOT ALONE.
On the internet you’ll find tons of tips for self-care and stress management—and they help. But the most powerful thing we can do is to listen to and separate from our inner voices! When we’re bouncing between voices they’re running amok. The very voices we fear and want to repress; fear, anxiety, grief, if unheard gather energy in the psyche. And each difficult voice is paired with an equal and opposite voice of resource and capacity. Repress one and you repress the other. In crisis we must strengthen the self that isn’t anyone of these voices—the internal CEO or Chairman Of The Board that listens to and manages the input from all the voices but doesn’t over-identify with any one of them.
Voice Dialogue Practice Group is a dedicated group that will meet four times to identify and explore the voices most active during the crisis. The group is open to both seasoned practitioners and those new to Voice Dialogue. Sessions will be taped and available for group member review.
