Let's discuss some ways in which you can incorporate Numerology into your own spiritual practice. We'll look at creating rituals around your current Personal Year number. Working with ritual and this number you can begin to connect to deeper levels of your self. All you really need is the right frame of mind, sincerity and dedication.
If you've ever been to an in depth spiritual retreat or attended a Mystery School then you have probably worked with rituals. Ar the very least you have probably heard others talking about them. Rituals can be simple, powerful, cleansing and healing. They can become increasingly effective as you make them a part of your everyday life. Creating rituals does not have to be complex or difficult. Taking a cleansing salt bath, lighting a candle, meditating, or playing tennis regularly could be some of your own personal rituals.Working with ritual and Numerology can bring greater equilibrium into your life. Numerology can be used as a method of understanding your own deeper nature, while that deeper nature can help to illustrate personal practices and rituals that may help you to heal, grow and step forward in life. Numerology can provide clues and insights as to the best time to focus on developing a personal ritual or practice for particular purposes.
Of course, you should remember that you can achieve greater benefits if you open to the mystery of these rituals. But, what is most important is that the rituals that you create for yourself help you do the inner work that allows you to feel good, remain motivated, stable and healthy. By themselves your rituals will not be cure-alls, but they can help you lead a more balanced life as they can help you to bring in more structure, stability, guidance, wisdom and hope.
In Numerology there are universal cycles and personal cycles. Each cycle represents a time when certain personal traits, characteristics or qualities are strongest. Universal cycles will have an influence on the general population. Personal cycles will only influence you. When you are in tune with your personal cycle, your goals can generally be accomplished more easily. These cycles can last for years, months, days, or hours. The period of time that you look at depends on what you are interested in analyzing in your life.
Certain years may provide the ideal setting for a specific personal practice. Also, certain personalities may do better with different types of ritual or spiritual practice. If you are a person who cannot sit still, then creating a meditation ritual may not be a good initial idea. However, with dedication and focus you can be successful.
For our purposes we will look at cycles of a year in length. The universal year lasts one calendar year, beginning in January and ending in December. Your Personal Year lasts from the day of your birthday to the day before your birthday in the next year. Your unique Personal Year will offer you certain perspectives and opportunities. You don't have to take advantage of the opportunities this period of time offers, but if you are a procrastinator you may have to wait a full nine years for a similar theme to emerge. This doesn't mean that you won't be able to carry out a particular task, rather there are "windows of opportunity", which make certain tasks easier.
Numerology can help you to open to your "window of opportunity." Your ritual work can then reinforce what it is that you are looking for. Perhaps you are looking for simple quiet personal time, or maybe you are looking for better health, more money, a relationship, or something else. Numerology can help you to focus in on your goals that can be reinforced through the role of ritual.
Understanding the general theme of Your Personal Year will help to identify key issues of importance in your life at any one time. Perhaps you have already worked through these issues. If that is the case, then they will be familiar to you. However, if you have not worked them out yet, then you may have a greater amount of personal work to do. With the aid of ritual you can work on these important issues and improve aspects of your life. We all continue to learn and grow. And, just because you experienced a particular Personal Year before, does not mean that you will experience the main theme of the year in the same way as in the past.
Once you understand the theme of a particular year, you can begin to create rituals around this theme. By understanding and working with the themes presented in your Personal Year, Numerology can help you to more clearly see your own patterns and tap into greater personal power and change. Each year has its own overall pattern connected with it. The #1 Personal Year is a great period for new beginnings. In a 1 year, you might work with rituals around creating space, independence and letting go. The #2 Personal Year is great for partnerships. In this year, key rituals might involve allowing relationship or partnerships into your life.
Each year builds on the progress and challenges of the last. For the most benefit, you should prepare yourself and be ready for the opportunities and challenges that will come up in each particular year of a particular 9 year cycle.
Questions for a new personal year
- What am I bringing forth from previous years?
- What personal gifts do I have to offer?
- What gifts/strengths have I yet to acknowledge?
- How can my personal experiences from the past, help me now?
- How has the way in which others see me shaped my experiences?
- How has the way in which I see myself shaped my experiences?
- Have I experienced this theme before?
- What ritual can honor the gifts that I wish to bring forth?
- What ritual can help me to let go, heal or forgive?
At the start of a new year, you will want to spend some period in quality reflection of these and other important questions. They should help you to more mindfully approach any critical decisions or choices. The questions are not meant to make you feel inadequate, but rather are meant to show you a clearer picture of what may or may not be working for you now. Certain traits, skills, habits or emotions may have served or protected you in the past, but may be self limiting now.
Another good time to review these questions is at the half way point. Half way through your Personal Year is the "Peak" point of that year. It occurs 6 months after the start of your Personal year, and represents a coming together and culmination of events, circumstances and activities. Think of the your Personal Year as a wave in the ocean. You start at the bottom of a wave, proceed to the top, and come back down toward the bottom. The top of the wave is the Peak of your Personal Year. Often, dramatic shifts and changes happen at this time. It can be used as a powerful time for personal reflection. Stressful events that occur around the time of your Peak point might seem a little more troublesome or traumatic to you. It can be important to have tools and rituals in place to help you to center and remain grounded.
There are also Action Points which occur in the third and ninth month of your Personal Year. The Action Points involve events that stimulate or energize you in some way. During this time, people, events, or activities may move into, or out of, your life that encourages you to act in a timely manner. Thomas Jefferson was born on April 2 and had an Action point in July. On July 4th he signed the Declaration of Independence and in another year he died on July 4th.
Utilizing and understanding your Personal Year cycle and associated tools can help you to better understand why you may do things in a certain way. However, the "why" is not so important, as understanding more about yourself. Remember that whether or not you utilize numerological tools there are benefits to being self aware. Being present and having focus strongly relates to your ability to be in life and to be the person that you need to be. Find a way to express yourself, step forward and connect with the unfolding world around you.
